“...by the time of 2011’s Screws Get Loose the group’s garage-punk roots were also on clear display, with reverby electric guitars as prominent as strummed acoustics, and some serious ‘60s girl-group vocals creeping into the mix as well.” – Fred Mills, Blurt.com

Those Darlins - Blur The Line
Nashville’s Those Darlins, who haven’t been in Louisville since September 2011, return to the Ville, this time at Zanzabar, with new and somewhat controversial album, Blur The Line. That album cover, which was posted in front of a record store in Nashville before the album was released, caused some controversy in the Music City. While they started as an all-female trio, the band is a now a quartet, with only two of the original members leading it. That kind of churning is symptomatic of the warp-factor forces of the business, which they sing about in the new record. Their sound continues to evolve, with Blur The Line’s producer, Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, John Cale, JEFF the Brotherhood), stirring in a lot of reverb in the mix, per a review at Paste. Fans of the band should be interested in what they’re doing now, so they should head over to Zanzabar on November 23 for the 9 p.m. show. Diane Coffee will open and tickets are $10 adv/$12 Dos.
Here’s the official video for “Oh, God,” from the new record:
