Between his periods of cursing and swearing to give up his web radio show, James “Fender” Vize manages to get a few things done, one of which is this: “Fender’s Den” has a app. Download it here. Then what’s happens: he’ll be bombarded with requests for more content, so he’ll have to do more shows, which he’ll have to promote, which will lead to demand for more content . . . Run for it, it’s a trap, Fender!!

The former radio station “Louie,” now WLGX-FM, 100.5, is getting some reaction, not all of it good, to the announcement that it will feature Gen-X music. We’ll skip the hype from Clear Channel and note that there are no DJs, hence no labor costs locally. Comments here and here. Sample playlist:
2 Unlimited, “Get Ready For This”
Nirvana, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
Montell Jordan, “This is How We Do it”
No Doubt, “Just A Girl”
Coolio, “1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New)”
EMF, “Unbelievable”
OMC, “How Bizarre”
blink-182, “All The Small Things”
D-Mob, “C’mon and Get My Love”
Sublime, “Santeria”
Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch, “Good Vibrations”
Dave Matthews Band, “Ants Marching”
Culturebeat, “Mr. Vain”
Spin Doctors, “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong”
Jennifer Lopez, ”If You Had My Love”

On May 28, 1949, WNAS FM 88.1 (New Albany High School) went on the air as the first high school FM station. The student-made promos tout their musical diversity in their playlist.
