Nappy Roots returns to Louisville for a show in what is sure to be a very packed house on February 10 at ZaZoo’s in St. Matthews. The event celebrates the 10th Anniversary of multi-platinum Watermelon, Chicken & Grits, Nappy Roots’ debut chart-topping album. Also of the bill will be Skyscraper Stereo, Scanners featuring Dr. Gonzo, Nacirema, and YNG Steve, DJ El Dawg and Jalin Roze. Tickets are $15 adv/$20 DoS
Bowling Green’s most famous (next to the Everlys) group Nappy Roots are in Melbourne – Florida, that is – for a show, according to the Hometown News.
Over at the Louisville Cardinal, Aaron Williams reviews Nappy Roots’ Nappy Dot Org and says “Nappy Dot Org” is simply a mediocre effort from an otherwise very talented group. While the group’s lyrics are as biting and relevant as ever, their message often goes unheard because it is drowned in annoying hooks and lighthearted beats that any true hip-hop or bass head will find lacking and less than satisfying.”
