The Musicians Emergency Resource Foundation (MERF) Viva La Diva 2011 benefit is set for Sunday, November 6 at Jim Porter’s. The show presents female performers from the Louisville/Kentucky area (with the occasional male backup). Headlining will be Lexington native Kelly Richey and her band. There will also be raffles, giving away a variety of donated items. The show kicks off at 6 p.m. and will be family-friendly until 10 p.m. A $7 donation at the door is requested of all attending. The benefit for John Gage, held at the River Bend Winery on Sunday, November 14, raised in excess of $17,000, according to Janine Linder of Kentucky Homefront. Additional funds may yet add to the total. Anyone interested in donating to Gage should go to the MERF site at www.merfbenefit.org and click on ‘Donations’ in the top menu. Donations may be designated for Gage.

The festival, which will be party of New Albany’s Summer Concert Series, will feature a number of area bands. Festival hours will be 2p.m until 11 p.m., with music run from 3 p.m until 11 p.m. The complete lineup will be announced later, but the Jimmy Davis Band and Marilyn Kington and 2-Loose have already been confirmed. Tickets will be $10 / $2 for 6 and under. More information as it becomes available.
