The Never Nervous blog seems to have a thing for turning up obscure Louisville bands and offering their unreleased recordings for free download. In this case, it’s a hardcore band from 1998-2000 called The Seaside Panel, members of which went on to play with Teen Pregnancy!, Lucky Pineapple, Phantom Family Halo, City of Ghosts, Lee Van Cleef and The Royalty, among others. There was a full=-ength project recorded but not released. You can download it

Here’s another video, which you must watch on Facebook, of the band performing a new song (for the last time?)

Why Did Lucky Pineapple Decide To Break Up?
Why Did Lucky Pineapple Decide To Break Up? Drew Miller of Lucky Pineapple offers his take on the decision to end the seven-year run of one of Louisville’s more interesting young bands in an interview with the 37Flood blog. The short answer is “creative differences,” with the longer answer being more a matter of logistics. The band has one more gig on May 20 at Headliners with Ultrapulverize.
September 1 Weeklies Ink
Heading into Labor Day, one might expect a considerable number of stories about the various musical events happening, but not so much. El neo LEO has a story by Mat Herron on an obscure punk band from the Nineties, Indignant Few, which is reuniting for a show at the Vernon, billed as a Better Days Reunion, meaning bands that were on Ben Jones’ Better Days label, including Bush League and Son Of Dog. Two shows are set for September 4 and 5 at the Vernon Club. Saturday’s is 21 and over, Sunday’s show is all-ages.
Elsewhere in LEO, Herron plugs The Dr. Michael White Quartet show at Adath Jeshurun on Saturday, September 4, plus a Glassworks’ CD release show on Friday featuring Another Seven Astronauts and Lucky Pineapple
Yesterday’s C-J featured a story on MMJ’s Carl Broemel’s new CD, All Birds Say. Metromix.com has a story – likely to be in Velocity 0 on Hinder’s show at Jim Porter’s
Weekly Alt – 3/17/2010
Being that it’s St. Paddy’s Day, all the print and most blogs are loaded down with green ink or pixels. However, there’s still a bit of music news tucked away. Ye olde LEO has a phoner with Mayer Hawthorne, who’s playing at the Zanzabar on March 24. T. E. Lyons did the honors. Mat Herron chats with Lucky Pineapple, who are SXSW-bound. Herron also details all the Louisville groups headed to Austin.
As usual, the MetroMix/Velocity/C-J contributes are unclear until we get a physical copy.
T. E. Lyons has a phoner with former Louisvillian cellist Sarah Balliet of the quartet Murder by Death, which is heading to SXSW. Damien McPherson has a chat with former Louisvillian and bassist for Foxy Shazam, Daisy (Really. Just read it) . Mat Herron interviews J C. Denison of Lucky Pineapple, another of the several Louisville-connected bands heading to Austin for SXSW. Herron also previews a Lower Dens show at the Swan Dive
Reviews of the week include one of the Watson Twins Talking To You, Talking to Me CD
Over at the Metromix/Velocity spot, Andy Herman also chats with Foxy Shazam, Joe Lord has an interview with Cheyenne Mize. MetroMix also has five bands – The Pass, Frontiers, Brooks Ritter, Adventure, Dat Boi Dunn – picked to ‘break out’ in 2010. That and $5.95 will get you a nice cuppa Starbucks. John Rott has an interview with John Paul Wright, a railroader, songwriter and picker.
Ray Rizzo is once more bringing his Motherlodge project to Louisville. The number of events, concerts, parties, etc. nearly beggars the imagination; Rizzo may be aiming for a Fringe-type of event.
