Karate Body Records is all agog over the news that Silver Tongues’ “Warsaw,” from Black Kite, debuted on British radio station XFM to an estimated 195,000 listeners. Get your passports in order, team. The Brits love Louisville music.

This one’s already all over the Louisville music blogosphere – You Ain’t No Picasso has a bunch of vinyl records from Karate Body Records to give away. Here’s the list:
California Guitar Trio, Andromeda LP (Metallic Letterpress Cover, the
only record in the band’s 20-year history to appear on vinyl)
The Big Eyes Family Players, Family Favourites LP
The Phantom Family Halo, Monoliths & These Flowers Never Die 2XLP
The Fervor, Arise Great Warrior hand-numbered LP

Seluah Red Parole

Karate Body Records reminds us that Seluah’s Red Parole will go on sale on April 10. Anna Blanton has a review of the new CD here.
Here’s the first track from the CD, “The Other Side Of The Gun”:

Karate Body Records is busy touting a February 25 showcase at Clifton Cultural Center’s Eifler Theatre, featuring Silver Tongues, Victory Over Sound, Cathedral Choir and Old Baby. It’s just further evidence that the Louisville music scene/business is maturing into something that might blow up big.

We have been informed that it’s not a Karate Body Records showcase, however; it just features some of their bands. Oh, well.

Karate Body Records has been touting Whistle Peak’s Half Asleep On Echo Falls for some while and now it’s been officially released. It’s available at Please & Thank You or Underground Sounds in Louisville, CD Central in Lexington or through Karate Body Records.

A music blog called FensePost.com has a positive review of Whistle Peak’s “Wings Won’t Behave” single on Karate Body Records.

Karate Body Records is pleased to announced that The Fervor, The Ravenna Colt and Shipping News all made the cut for the Best Of 2011 at a British website called Sloucher.com. So did My Morning Jacket, although they are not on KBR, of course.

Seluah, The Other Side Of the Gun

Karate Body Records is priming the pump for the release of a new Seluah single, “The Other Side Of The Gun,” scheduled for January 10. Seluah has been on hiatus for six years, only recently reforming and heading into Kevin Ratterman’s The Funeral Home studio for some recording. Read the whole blurb about at Karate Body’s Facebook page.

Karate Body Records is understandably upbeat about the news that the title track from The Fervor’s Arise, Great Warrior, will get played on BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson’s show “Fresh on the Net” this Sunday from 1-3 p.m. GMT. Kudos to the guys.

Karate Body Records has signed an international distribution deal with Carrot Top Distribution LTD. Considering that Louisville music in particular is known around the world, this could be a very good deal for Karate Body and the acts they have signed. Alternately, if there is no offshore demand, then it’s pointless. We’ll watch it for while.
