Checking up on the Louisville musicians currently working out-of-town:


  • Young Widows, Phantom Family Halo and Coliseum are on a lengthy tour around the country. They’ll be in Albuquerque, NM tomorrow.
  • Joan Osborne will be playing a you’ve-really-made-it show on December 19 at the Levon Helm Studios, Woodstock, NY with the Levon Helm Band. In the meantime, she’s still touring with the Homes Brothers and Paul Thorn. Here’s a review from a show in Boulder, CO, on October 29
  • Tantric is playing a show in Tallahassee tomorrow night.
  • The Monsters of Folk continue their triumphant tour around the country.
  • How’s your French? Mine’s non-existent but here’s a comment about Rachel Grimes’ new CD in French.
  • James Kottack’s new side project Kottack is touring the Southwest.
  • Tara Jane ONeil played a show in Madison, WI on Saturday. She continues with a tour that brought her through town last Thursday.

    From around the country, news about Louisvillians making music.

    Dawn Landes is working the media in advance the release of her new CD, Sweet Heart Rodeo, on January 19. Drummer Ray Rizzo was also involved in the project. Read more at antimusic.com. Landes is also playing at The Visulite Theatre in Charlotte N.C. this weekend.

    Joan Osborne is playing a university gig in Chico, California this weekend, with the Holmes Brothers and Paul Thorn. They’re in the middle of a tour.

    Tantric is gigging in California, too, only the southern part.

    Will Oldham is still in town, but, brother, does he get the mentions and references out in the world.

    Tara Jane O’Neil is working on the East Coast, even though she’s living in Oregon these days.

    Janet Beveridge Bean is touring with a group called The Horse’s Ha. They got mentioned in a review of Yo La Tengo in Toronto, Canada,

    Drummer James Kottack got interviewed recently, during a performance with the Scorpions at the Abbey Metal Show in Luxembourg, Germany. You can hear it here.

    Hank Linderman recently got a mention in a Pollstar item; he engineered and performed on former Eagles member Timothy B. Schmit new CD, Expando, set to drop on October 20
