Now post-Scorpions, James Kottack has to connect anew with his fans. Here’s his first video crack at it:

We’re certain that you have been suffering from Kottack withdrawal, so here’s a fan vid of a James Kottack drum solo at a Scorpions concert in Vilnius, Lithuania on May 30, 2011:

Scorpions drummer and Louisville native James Kottack apparently can’t really quite -he’s playing with Savage Amusement, a Scorpions tribute band in St. Louis on April 29. Blabbermouth.net has the backstory

Hardly a day goes by without some news item concerning My Morning Jacket arriving in my mailbox. Currently, that would be a concert review in Rochester’s (NY) Democrat and Chronicle plus a review of an MMJ concert in Holyoke, MA. Plus some more here and there.

Rachel Grimes is still touring Europe, with a show set for September 15 in Dublin, Ireland.

Dawn Landes also gets frequent mentions out in the blogosphere, mostly good but sometimes not.

One-time Louisville resident Matthew Cooper (born in Tennessee, raised here), otherwise known as ambient artist Eluvium has his followers. Here’s an announcement of a new recording he’s releasing, on a site called “What Would Morton Feldman Do?”

Scorpions drummer James Kottak gets mentioned frequently, as the Scorpions are on tour for the last time. For instance, here’s a mention of a tribute concert in Hollywood honoring the late John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) where Kottack will play.

Likewise, Joan Osborne gets regular mentions, as she remains quite busy in the music industry. Here’s a review of a show she played in Chatham, MA

Lastly, Ben Sollee is in Colorado (via Amtrak) on his “Ditch the Van” tour, wherein he’s pdealing from gig to gig, cello on board.

The German metal band the Scorpions, with drummer and Louisville native James Kottack, are wrapping up a career with one last album and tour. Seazeroxx.com has brand-new interview with Kottack.

Eluvium, a.k.a. former Louisvillian Matthew Cooper, will be at 21C on May 26. There’s a nice interview with Cooper at popmatters.com that should help get you up to speed on his “dreamy, minimalist” music.

Wax Fang is heading for England after Derby; if you want a tour schedule, look here.

My Morning Jacket will appear on the upcoming John Prine tribute, Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows, from Oh Boy Records. MMJ will perform “All The Best.” A complete track listing can be found here.

There’s an interview with James Kottack of the Scorpions at annecarlini.com.

Finally, Joan Osborne was interviewed on a Bloomberg(?) program. Take ‘em where you can get ‘em? The video is here.

Ran across this video of former Louisvillian James Kottack with the Scorpions. The video title is “foire de Colmar-Scorpions avec James Kottak”

It looks like Louisville native and drummer James Kottack will be able to spend more time on his Kottack group, once the German rock band Scorpions have recorded one last CD and made a final tour, at least if a recent announcement by the Scorpions leader is to be believed, Founder Rudolf Schenker, 61, said that a forty-year career was enough and that the band would break up after the aforementioned tour was done.

Kottack, of course, is likely to find new gigs, if he wants to.
