Houndmouth has releaed a new video for “Sedona,” a tune from the new LP, Little Neon Limelight, due out March 16/17. Watch:
The headline on this story is from a story about Houndmouth printed by the Phoenix New Times. To be fair, Matt Myers comment was that, musically, speaking, New Albany is “nowhere,” because all the musicians are across the river in Louisville. Nevertheless, there’s likely to be a bit of pushback about this one.
New Albany’s Houndmouth get the top billing for the first night of the Nashville Dancin’ series in the Music City, which runs every Thursday from June 12 to July 31. The share the bill wit Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers, Los Colognes and The Kernal and His New Strangers. Details here.
This year’s Newport Folk Festival, set for July 25-27, has begun announcing performers for the festival. Among the first six, which includes Mavis Staples, Nickel Creek, Shovels & Rope, Hurray for the Riff Raff and Jenny Lewis is New Albany’s Houndmouth. They’ve also nailed a slot on the Snowmass Mammoth Festival, scheduled for June 13-15 in Snowmass Village, Colorado. They are clearly back on track for the festival season, the most useful way to build a fanbase in a hurry.
Recognition (and good PR) comes in packages big and small. For Houndmouth and Jim James, a little package is Paste Magazine’s Best Music Photos Of 2013. Go look.
Houndmouth scored a nice profile as part of Paste Magazine’s The Best of What’s Next series. Read it here.
Kyle Meredith had Houndmouth on The Setlist on Monday, doing some vocalizing. Here’s an outtake; the story is not yet posted:

New Albany’s HoundMouth scheduled two nights at Headliners Music Hall, on November 29 and 30, by way of a celebration of their 2013 successes, and, no doubt, to express their gratitude to their local fans. They have, of course, blown up nationally over the last year, with appearances on late night network shows, tours with major acts and just greatly raising their visibility in the national music scene. Catch them while they’re still just the kids from Southern Indiana. Of course, by the time this item is posted, it is likely their November 29 show will be sold out, as the November 30 show already is. Tickets are $18.
The Houndmouth crew is not planning on having the winter wheat grow under their feet: they have a new tour planned out. In addition, they’ve announced that they will be making their morning television debut on CBS This Morning on November 23.
