WFPK’s new music director Kyle Meredith already got written up in the C-J; now LEO does the honors. Elsewhere, Mat Herron has his B-Sides column, which features a phoner with Blackberry Smoke.. Herron also has a phoner with Corey Smith, who is scheduled to play at the Iroquois Amphitheater on Friday, September 10.


Meanwhile, over at Metromix/Velocity, Joe Lord has a long phoner with the band Holy Fuck, playing the Zanzabar tonight.

Whatever. That’s the weeklies ink for September 8.

Yesterday’s C-J had a story about Eric Whorton of El Roostars who got invited to bring parts of his “Exile On Main Street” show to Nashville for this week’s Americana Music Festival and Conference. Kudos to Eric.

Did you know that Norah Jones once sang with Jacob Duncan’s Liberation Prophecy band. (He met her at U of North Texas in Denton, Tx.) That and other things you might not know about Jones are in J. L. Puckett’s preview of Jones’ show at Whitney Hall tonight.

Ken Neuhauser previews the Joshua Nelson (aka: The Prince of Kosher Gospel) appearance at 9th annual Adath Jeshurun Music Festival Concert on Sunday.

Finally, Andrew Adler previews the Takács Quartet (now a trio) concert at Comstock Hall on Sunday at 3 p.m, presented by the Chamber Music Society.
