The Kentucky State Fair books up-and-coming country acts in addition to the usual selection of currently huge country stars and once-upon-a-time huge artists. The up-and-comers share the “free show” stage at Cardinal Stadium with the old guys, sometimes as openers, other times as package show. That’s the case of the August 21 show at Cardinal Stadium, when Jerrod Niemann, Kelsey K and Thomas Rhett split the bill. Niemann has had a No. 1 hit on the Country chart with “Lover, Lover,” so he gets the top of the bill. Rhett reached the Country charts with “Beer With Jesus” and “Something To Do With My Hands.” Teen-aged Kelsey K. is the child prodigy of the group, with her tune “Blue Jean Girl” getting some action around country. You might see a future superstar if you go to this show, and, as mentioned earlier, it’s free.
