The 1st To-Be-Annual Louisville Music Awards were handed out last night. Mayor Fischer opened the show with a few comments. The winners were:
Best live DJ Matt Anthony; Metal/Hardcore – Coliseum; Cover band of the year – Billy Goat Strut Revue; Singer-songwriter of the year – Cheyenne Mize; Hip-hop artist of the year – Jalin Roze

Engineer/producer of the year – Dave Chale, Deadbird Studios; Rockers of the year – Old Baby; Roots Award – 23 String Band; Song of the year – “The Blonde Leading the Blonde,” Wax Fang; Louisville Music Legacy Awards went to Jason Noble, Tim Krekel, Chilton Price and Static Major.

Perhaps only the Chilton Price Legacy Award was a surprise, as few Louisvillians are familiar with Price’s name, though many know her songs, primarily “Slow Poke” and “You Belong To Me,” which was a major hit for Jo Stafford. The two songs were also recorded by PeeWee King, who also deserves a Legacy Award.

Chicago’s Secret Colours will join the hard-working, hard-touring Louisville hardcore/heavy rock band Coliseum for a “back porch session” at Rye on June 13, with “special guests.” This show has been the talk of the hip set on the Facebook, with an assist from publicist Crash Avenue. Don’t drink too much.
