LMN’s Terrabeat writer Alexander Campbell found this video of him dancing – drunk, he says – at an Appalatin/Option 22 show in West Virginia (He’s the last guy on the right when the camera pans to the dancers):

The December issue of Louisville Music News is out on the street, featuring Kevin Gibson’s cover story about the other four record stores on Bardstown Road. (Of course, there are also other stores that sell CDs as part of their business, but the four are designated as record stores.) Ben Jones of Better Days Records is on the cover. Elsewhere in this issue, Keith Clements writes his last Ramble column; Eddy Metal tallies up the results (and lessons learned) of his seventh Rock For Kosair event; Mike Stout has the latest Country music news; Alexander Campbell reviews Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni Ba; Martin Z. Kasdan covers all the latest in the Jazz field and Gretchen Stein Henry waxes ecstatic about Over The Rhine. Grab a copy today at your favorite spot (but not ear X-tacy.)

Since it’s entirely unlikely that most Louisvillians have never heard of, let alone heard, Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni ba, who will be playing at the Clifton Cultural Center tonight, here’s a video to give you a little insight into the performers and music:

Pop-Kiss Chainsaw - LMN Cover November 2011

The November issue of Louisville Music News features the hard rock band Pop-Kiss Chainsaw, a Shively band intent upon pursuing their rock ‘n’ roll dream of a record deal, with fame and riches to follow.
Also in this issue, Keith Clements reviews the Garvin Gate Blues Festival; Mike Stout updates the country music scene; Marty Kasdan Jr. covers all the latest Jazz news in town and, of course, Eddy Metal rants and raves about the Louisville metal/hard rock scene. There are reviews CDs from Honeybabies, Appalatin and Jay Stewart, plus upcoming music and the November calendar. Now available all around town or check out this sneak peek.

Noted Louisville bellydancer Ruric-Amari returns to action on Friday, Sept. 23, at Caffe Classico. It’ll be a somewhat late show – 10 p.m. – but you might eat dinner first. Here’s a video of Ruric performing the “Sword Dance.”

Everybody’s been all over the documentary “Brick And Mortar And Love,” which is all about ear X-tacy Records. The We Listen For You Blog has some commentary about it, as does Backseat Sandbar. Here’s the trailer:

Louisville’s Ut Gret plays an in-store at ear X-tacy on Saturday at 5 p.m. Ut Gret is like no other band in Louisville, though there may be some someplace on the planet. They call it “pan idiomatic” and sometimes have belly dancer Ruric-Amari as accompaniment. Check out this video:
