Krizz Kaliko

Kansas City rapper Krizz Kaliko, who you might know as a collaborator with Tech N9ne, will lead the rhymes at the Tech N9ne-owned Strange Music’s Strange Music Tour 2013 on July 11 show at The Vernon, along with  label mates Stevie Stone and ¡Mayday! Kaliko is touring behind a new record, Son of Sam, a follow-up to his highest-charting album (#4 on Hip Hop chart) Kickin’ And Screamin’. Stevie Stone continues to build momentum for Momentum, his EP; Miami-based hip-hop group ¡Mayday! is supporting their first Strange Music release, 2012’s Take Me To Your Leader, while offering ad advance listen to their new project, Believers, set for a July 16 release. Their clearly set to sell some tickets and records, so hit the ATM on the way to the show. Tickets are $20.

Uh HUh Baby Yeah!
Little Heart Records’ artists Uh Huh Baby Yeah! have been invited to play the Warped Tour, which is a pretty big deal. Unfortunately, front man Kevin Fletcher has this little bit of a problem – he has a wife and kids and a job that supports them. Needless to say, if he’s on tour for two months (July-August), he won’t be working and so his family won’t have any income. Accordingly, they’re playing a last-minute show tonight, June 13, at The Levee Bar & Grill, 1005 W Market S. in Jeffersonville to raise some money for Fletcher. They’re taking donations, too, both at the show and via www.gofundme.com/396h18.

So this is a rather unusual situation for a benefit – asking for donations to help someone succeed rather to help someone out of a bad jam. An all together easier decision to make, I think.

Popera Quartet Il Divo At Whitney Hall May 10

Il Divo

That Simon Cowell has his fingers in every musical pot, it seems. Consider the popera quartet Il Divo, put together in 2005 by Cowell; Il Divo includes French pop singer Sebastien Izambard, Spanish baritone Carlos Marin, American tenor David Miller, and Swiss tenor Urs Buhler. The group has sold more than 26 million albums and 2 million concert tickets and has the only crossover classical album, Ancora, to enter the US Billboard Top 200 chart at No 1. Cowell’s  judgment about the tastes of the music-buying audience is thereby confirmed. They’ll be crooning at Whitney Hall in the Kentucky Center on May 10. Tickets are $45.
Here’s an entire concert from Barcelona in 2009:
