Here’s a new track from the upcoming Gubbey Records> Head Cleaner compilation, from Ultra Pulverize - “Hate Ta Iron”:
Carrie Neumayer has a lengthy interview with Mike Bacayu about the revival of Self-Destruct Records and which also features much reminiscing about the early punk and hardcore era in Louisville. It’s posted here at Never Nervous. Go read it. Now.
The Slint crew is off to Europe on a tour supporting the re-release of Spiderland. The reviews are, well, both quite positive and puzzled that a band that started off an entire sub-genre, then broke up twenty years ago can still find a audience, and a respectable, young audience at that.
Here are two reviews from a show in Bixton, London:

Joel Berk at Chicago’s Soundfuse blog has one of the most curious reviews of a band that I’ve read in a very long time. It’s about Slint playing at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago. You’ll have to read it yourself.
The progressive doom metal / post-rock / genre-spanning ensemble (ohlm) (or just ohlm?) is set to release a new album and, accordingly, has a show to celebrate the same at Diamond Pub on Saturday, May 24. Here’s a video of a show at Headliners on the occasion of the release of their last album in 2011:
